Friday, September 3rd, 2021 -- Patrick Sampey here, reporting to you for Sneaky Pete Mafia from sunny Florida.
Meanwhile, out in Vegas, a billiards war rages on -- the 2021 US Pro Billiard Series, Diamond Las Vegas Open 10 Ball tournament, held this September 1st through the 4th (tomorrow) -- featuring so many of the world's top players -- the event also sponsored by CSI (CueSports International) and Predator cues.
And I have several friends from Facebook in the fray, as I continue to reach out to players around the globe in an effort to cover the game inside and out -- networking on social media to highlight so many of the games most prolific pool players.
As of the writing of this, I am just watching the match played today there in Vegas for the 10 ball tournament, Skyler Woodward vs Darren Appleton -- the announcers saying Woodward is a 800 Fargo rating, with Appleton being a 782, “...they’re both dangerous men at the table,” he concludes and I concur, very formidable players. Both Mosconi Cup MVP’s from prior years, Woodward for team USA and Appleton for team Europe. Woodward would ultimately win the contest, I'm already aware at this point, and so I will watch the match as I am able.
I would like to see Woodward win it all, but at the same time, there are so many great players, though he has certainly won before.
Many of the players on the winners side are my friends on Facebook, such as Fedor Gorst, Roland Garcia, Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Joshua Filler, Aloysius Yapp, Masato Yoshioka, Alex Kazakis-- players from around the globe, all seeking to win the Diamond ten-ball open.
I can't wait to see who wins it! What an incredible, world-wide field of wonderful, colorful players! What a great day for billiards!
