Robbie Capito Day 1 Premier League Pool Championship

Robbie Capito leads the charge at the 2026 Premier League Pool after an impressive opening day at Classic Billiards in Florida, with Jonas Souto and Aloysius Yapp close behind in a fiercely competitive field.

Capito secured top spot after Day One, amassing 24 racks and a +12 rack difference from four wins in five matches to set the tone in his pursuit of a second major title.

The Hong Kong star said:

“It feels good to be at the top of the table after day one. I played well to get wins over Thortsen, AJ, Jesus and Pijus, but it’s only the start of a long week. Last year I played some great pool but fell short in the semi-finals. This time I want redemption. I want to stay consistent, keep building, and hopefully take the title home.”

Close behind in second place is Jonas Souto, who made a strong statement on his Premier League debut, also with four wins from five matches.

Souto commented:

“I’m really pleased with how I handled the first day. The standard here is incredibly high, so to win four matches gives me a lot of confidence. There’s still a long way to go and every rack matters in this format. My focus is to stay composed, keep enjoying the moment and fight for every point. If I do that, I know I can be right there at the end.”

Reigning US Open and Florida Open champion Aloysius Yapp sits third in the standings after a dominant start, winning his first four matches before being edged out by Francisco Sanchez Ruiz in his final fixture of the day.

Yapp reflected:

“I felt a little bit lucky at times – a lot of the balls rolled my way in those first four matches. Francisco got the better of me at the end, but it’s only day one. There are plenty more matches to come and I’m hungry for the title. I’ve won in Florida before and I’d love to do it again this week.”

Defending champion Moritz Neuhausen endured a challenging afternoon session but bounced back in style with crucial victories over Kledio Kaçi and a commanding whitewash of America’s Justin Bergman to reignite his campaign.

The German said:

“It wasn’t the best start. My tip broke, which caused problems against Francisco and Jonas, but once I changed it, I felt much better. This is one of the toughest events of the year. It’s all about endurance and staying mentally sharp. I know what to expect, and while it’s a lot of pool, it’s also a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to the rest of the week.”
