As you know I am always willing to help my fellow pool player. I have been doing that for thirty five years. Instead of an article this time, I am going to make you work for your skill development. I have a great exercise for you.
Shoot the nine ball and stop right there. It would be a mistake to think this is an automatic shot. There is something about this stop shot that gives players fits from time to time. Build good alignment skills with this shot.
After pocketing the nine ball turn around to make the three in the left corner pocket. You are expected to make the three and bring the cue ball back to the white arrow. Reset the nine and go around again.
Test yourself on how many times you can go round and round. It takes the skills we all want to have to do five successful rounds.
Skill number one: alignment on a stop shot. The shot on the nine requires perfect alignment.
Skill number two: Pocketing the three with speed to go two rails for position on the nine ball. Speed skills.
The ultimate skill you want to develop is found in the MONK SHOT SEQUENCE. Each time you shoot you must go through these steps:
Connect to the shot.
Land on the cue ball.
Connect again as you pull back and pause.
Know the stroke you want to use and deliver that stroke.
Final thought is always “MAKE THAT BALL”
If you can master the MONK SHOT SEQUENCE your game will move to the next level. This is the two shot model that will help you become a better player.
There is a FREE video on the MONK SEQUENCE on You Tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY0LgQU8vDI&feature=youtu.be
I have developed a book on Drills. You will find it on www.theroadplayer12.com when you go to the books links.
